Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you're looking for a buggy jog with or just a compact stroller for neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies are great for mobility. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.
If you want a smooth ride with your baby, select models with 360deg front wheels that swivel. However, they are susceptible to punctures, so be prepared with an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, that symbol of the noughties that had more money than common sense, are in a steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easier to drive and look fashionable.
The larger the wheels are the better your buggy can deal with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back makes it easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and a 3 year old and found it was able to withstand grass, cobbles, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is sturdy to push and is very stable when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) come with suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my children.
Another thing to take into consideration is the seat size and shape. It should be large enough for your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies have an option to lie flat completely while others only allow for the parent to be facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road and wet walks. This buggy is ideal for a single child starting from birth and can be adjusted to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth to age 4. It includes a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a huge cushioned seat. Storage options are also good with a large basket with zip pockets on the hood, and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Wheels with a larger diameter
Larger wheels mean your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - perfect for buggies that are off-road. They also make it easier to move the pushchair around tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with swivel wheels on the front to help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock for greater speed and stability. This is also helpful if you bump into a tree root or stray kerb as the front wheel can be lifted up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres, which means they can be used on many different terrains and are far more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. They are more prone to punctures, and you'll need to have a repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are some of our favourite 3-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels, which she claims "perform well on grass, gravel roads and market town cobbles", and can easily go up or down kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that, in her words "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".
The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite wide and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This is a problem if you're using it as a jogger or you need to to get through doorways that are narrow when you're out and out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
A three-wheeled buggy is more maneuverable for children. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels can rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to maneuver, making them perfect for challenging terrain such as cobblestones, parks as well as bumpy roads and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and wrote: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the terrain, with the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also awed by how well it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. I found it extremely stable when going downhill or over uneven ground."
The only downside to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3-wheel buggy may make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something to be aware of if your home area is one of the cities. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better choice for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars can shield your child from scrapes and bumps while out and about. These bumper bars are simple to install and will make your child feel safe and secure out and out and about.

The bumper bar is designed to complement the sleek lines on the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It comes with a soft, padded surface to provide an ideal place for your child to grab onto during walks. The sturdy construction and durable design ensures that your child will take a stroll around town without worrying about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.
The sling seat made of fabric sits snug inside the frame instead of on top of it like modular seats, delivering the lowest centre of gravity at the right height for your newborn and also providing an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it takes less effort to push a buggy up and over a curb than you might think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and is a great choice for jogging with its lockable swivel front wheel and air filled tyres.
With a chic and sophisticated design, this bumper bar is sure to draw attention wherever you go. It's available in a variety of finishes and colours to match your style. Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy is a great off-road vehicle for maneuverability and performance. This type of buggy is simple to steer and turns at a moment's notice due to its perfect geometry engineering, weight, and distribution.
The Sport's clever design places the fabric sling seat inside the frame, not on top like modular seats. This means it has lower center of gravity, which means it is more comfortable to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you don't have to exert as much effort to lift the buggy's front end over the curb), and offers more stability and balance. With 3 wheeled pushchair , the lockable front wheel, and air-filled tyres which allow for an easier, more comfortable jogging.

Kath the MFM reviewer, also adored the spaciousness of the buggy. There's a big, easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for a buggy this small and there's a handy zipped pouch on the rear of the seat unit, and even two smaller mesh pockets inside the hood to store your keys and phone.
